Hi Everyone.
On Thursday, June 2, we will host the Greenhouse Jam, part of our
Sustainability Mixer Series and a component of the United Nations
World Environment Day (WED). Established by the U.N. General Assembly
in 1972, WED is hosted every year by a different city and commemorated
with an international exposition through the week of June 5.
The Greenhouse Jam, from 7:00 - 10:00 at the Fort Mason, will bring
together an international community of mayors, political activists,
non-profiteers, and green entrepreneurs, as well as people of all
ages, professions and backgrounds in an unparalleled networking
opportunity.
Inspiration is contagious! As part of the event, SFUAS is producing
an electronic slideshow that will showcase to real-life
SUSTAINABILITY SOLUTIONS* here in San Francisco and the Bay Area. It
should be a one-of-a-kind opportunity to direct attention to what is
ACTUALLY happening and not just being talked about. Best of all - we
are looking for your help to provide the content! This is your
opportunity to show off your solution to a worldwide audience and get
the word out!
*What is a SUSTAINABILITY SOLUTION
Solutions are those activities, endeavors, businesses, practices and
habits that harmonize our living systems with natural cycles and
strong sensitivity to environmental concerns with a focus on
self-sufficiency. They can be big (e.g., bio-fuel collectives) or
small (e.g., home worm bin) or anywhere in between. Here are some
examples of what we'd all like to see:
- innovative building designs
- green businesses in action
- alternative energy systems
- local organic gardening and food distribution
- rain water collection
- grey water systems
- rooftop gardens
- community workshops
- social justice activities
Every solution you can think of - be creative!
What do we need from you?
Please send us slides that exhibit your solution:
- Powerpoint format
- Drawings, digital photos, your name, etc.
- 1-2 slides per individual, business or organization
- 10-30 slides per sponsor**
Please send all materials to Kevin Bayuk kevinbayuk@yahoo.com
** Contact Kevin Bayuk 415-999-5354, (kevinbayuk@yahoo.com
{mailto:kevinbayuk@yahoo.com}) for sponsorship opportunities.
Sponsoring the event is an excellent way to direct targeted attention
to your green business or organization. In addition to exposure
through the slide presentation your organization will be promoted as
an event sponsor.
Please pass this message on to everyone you know that might have
some content to add to the show and please come and celebrate with us
on Thursday June 2nd!!
Thanks,
The SFUAS Team

Re: Upcoming Event: Greenhouse Jam - Jun 2 at Fort Mason
Thu, May 19, 2005 - 11:36 AMThis is one of the few "free to the public" events for the entire World Environment Day program (June 1-5). Please come, party and get to know one another. The emphasis is on SOLUTIONS in action and getting the word out to inspire others to action. No preaching about the problems, rather a showcase for the solutions. Cultivation and propogation of inspiration for us all in one organic JAM!
Please send me some photos, slides, etc. of all the direct action solutions that you all are manifesting!!!
Thanks!
