I am wondering what opinions exist out there on the concept of raising awareness of an issue? It could be any issue, but lets say the issue of sustainability.

Do you think that raising awareness campaigns are farcical?
Do you think that they don't serve any purpose?
Do you think that raising awareness at the individual level is a key strategy to bring about a change?

.......................and whatever else.

I personally, believe that raising awareness of an issue is the beginning of a process of reflecting in individuals. I am wanting to know what others feel.
